Project Background

Ge’gyai County lies in the heart of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, with an average altitude above 4,500 metres. Winters here are long and bitterly cold, and lake surfaces remain frozen for months on end. To meet local transit needs and resolve the common issue of cracking in traditional building materials caused by repeated freeze-thaw cycles, we delivered a professional pontoon floating bridge solution for the site.

The pontoons are manufactured from HMWHDPE blended with specialised modifiers for freeze-thaw resistance and UV protection. The material retains excellent toughness and physical properties even at extreme temperatures as low as -60°C, effectively preventing brittle cracking in frigid conditions. It is tailor-made for high-altitude cold regions such as Ngari.

Thanks to the pontoons’ outstanding resistance to low temperatures and ice, along with its maintenance-free design, the structure stayed fully stable after enduring months of freezing and the subsequent spring thaw. This project fully demonstrates the superior adaptability of our products to frozen waters and harsh high-altitude environments, setting a reliable reference for the construction of water transport facilities in similarly extreme locations.
